Why we built Macros Inc University (and why it’s needed)

Why-We-Built-Macros-Inc-University-1-scaled

There is no shortage of nutrition programs out there. So why did we build something from scratch? Because most of what exists teaches you to follow, not to understand.

For the last decade, we have helped over 40,000 people change their bodies and relationship with food. In that time, we noticed something was missing; people often don’t know what to do when they stop their program.

Not because they aren’t smart. Not because they didn’t put the hard work in. But because the problem lies within the very programs they were following. Before working with us, these programs never taught them anything. They handed out meal plans, assigned points, told them food had sins, that there were free foods, or that fasting, keto, or shakes were the only options. They told them what to eat and what to avoid. But never the why.

And it worked, right up until the moment it didn’t.

That’s a systematic flaw at the heart of most commercial weight loss programs. They are built for compliance, not for understanding. And compliance, by definition, ends the moment you stop following the rules.

Knowledge does not expire. A meal plan does. That distinction is why Macros Inc University exists.

The Problem with Programs That Do the Thinking for You

Think about the most popular diets you’ve seen come and go over the year. Atkins. Point systems. Elimination diets. Color-coded food categories. All of them follow a common theme; they reduce nutrition to a set of rules you follow, rather than a subject you understand.

Now, this doesn’t mean they’re not effective or without their merits. A simple system lowers the barrier to getting started. It’s a lot easier to know what food to eat and what not to eat than to know macros and nutrients. They also create structure when someone has none.

But they come with a cost that is rarely discussed. When the rules become the strategy, you are always dependent on the rules. You lose the ability to make good decisions in a situation the rules did not anticipate. You don’t know how to adapt. You can’t adapt when life changes, your body changes, or the science moves on.

We see this constantly with people who have spent years in these kinds of programs. They come to us lost and often confused. They can tell you exactly how many points are in a piece of chicken, but not why protein matters, how it affects satiety, or why your metabolism adapts over time. The system did its job so well that it made its own users dependent upon it.

What Real Nutrition Education Looks Like

We have always believed that coaching works best when it makes itself less necessary over time. The goal of a great coach is not to create a client who needs a coach forever, but instead to build someone who understands their body, and the why’s behind what they have been taught, so that they can make good decisions when they go it alone.

But coaching is personal and specific. Not everyone has access to it. That is the gap Macros Inc University was built to fill.

The platform teaches three interconnected things: how nutrition science actually works, how human behaviour and psychology shape the choices we make around food, and how to apply both of those things in real world situations. Not as a checklist or set of rules to follow, but as a framework for thinking.

When you understand why something works, you can adapt it. When you understand the science, you stop being misled by trends. When you understand your own psychology, you stop being surprised by your own behaviour.

The Three Courses, and Why Each One Matters

We structured the University around three courses that build on each other, though each stands fully on its own.

Nutrition Foundations

This is where most people should start, and frankly, where most people’s nutrition education has the biggest gaps. Foundations covers the core principles of nutrition science: calories, macronutrients, how weight loss actually works, and what the evidence genuinely supports versus what the industry has convinced us to believe. No trends. No gimmicks. Just clear, evidence-based science taught in a way that makes it usable.

Rewire: How to Rewire Your Brain and Build New Habits

Knowing what to do and actually doing it consistently are two completely different problems. Rewire addresses the second one. It is built around the neuroscience and psychology of habit formation, helping you understand why change feels so hard, why you keep reverting to old patterns, and how to build new behaviors that actually stick. If you have ever known exactly what you should be doing and still struggled to do it, this is for you.

Nutrition Coaching Certification

This is the deep end. Built from millions of hours of real coaching experience and client data, the Certification course teaches you how to apply nutrition science to real people, in real situations, with real constraints. It is designed for coaches, trainers, and health professionals who want to do more than recite theory. It teaches you how to think, how to adapt, and how to produce results across different populations and contexts.

Cost: $999 one-time payment.

The Art & Science of Nutrition Coaching

All three courses were developed by Dr. Brad Dieter, PhD, and built on the same principle that drives everything at Macros Inc: that evidence-based education, applied practically, is the most powerful tool any person can have when it comes to their health.

Why This Is Different from What Else Is Out There

Most nutrition programs teach you how to use a specific system or framework. That has value in a narrow sense, but it means your knowledge is only as useful as the method it belongs to.

Macros Inc University teaches principles, not prescriptions. You learn how to reason about nutrition, not just what conclusions to reach. You learn how to evaluate evidence critically, how to adapt when things change, and how to make good decisions in any circumstances.

This is harder to build. Harder to teach. But the only kind of education that actually lasts.

Who This University is For

Macros Inc University was designed for a wide range of people, and no prior background in nutrition is required. Whether you are someone who spent years trying diets that never quite stuck, a coach or a trainer who wants to provide more to their clients, or simply someone who wants to understand more about their own body, these courses were built for you.
