How to Do the Kickstand Dumbbell Goblet Squat
- Hold a dumbbell vertically against your chest with both hands.
- Slide one foot back so its toes sit level with the front foot's heel, resting on the ball of the foot.
- Keep around 80 percent of your weight on the front leg.
- Brace and squat straight down, keeping your chest tall.
- Descend until the front thigh is at least parallel, then drive up through the front heel.
- Finish the set on one side before switching legs.

Form Cues
- Place the back foot on its toe, a few inches behind the front heel.
- Keep roughly 80 percent of the load through the front leg.
- Hold the dumbbell against the chest and stay upright.
- The back foot is a kickstand, not an engine. If it starts pushing, re-set the weight distribution.
Avoid This
Common Mistakes
- Splitting the weight evenly, which makes it a normal goblet squat.
- Setting the back foot too far back so it becomes a split squat.
- Letting the torso rotate toward the back leg.
- Placing the rear foot so far back that it becomes a split squat and the depth disappears.
